Strategic Directions for 2000-2007

Learning

  • Stimulate undergraduate and graduate curriculum innovation by anticipating artistic, scholarly, and industry and community needs, and ensuring the appropriate hiring practices and support structures.
  • Increase cross-college interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Create greater opportunities for community partnerships with the academic community of the College.
  • Sustain a productive and positive workplace through the recognition of appropriate workload contributions and the cultivation of professional development for all members of the College community.

Internal Resources

  • Develop, by academic area, a clear statement of right size, based on student data, curriculum and program data, analysis of resources and trends, and School/Department needs.
  • Secure additional appropriate physical space and support resources to sustain the College's future growth.

External Resources and Communications

  • Maximize the College of Fine Arts' success in Campaign Arizona and the effectiveness of the College's six advisory boards.
  • Improve college-wide marketing and communications with donors, alumni, audiences and the community.
  • Increase non-gift income to the College, and its Schools and Departments.

Data

  • Develop and implement a college data system that is consistent; verifies accuracy of information in the central databases; insures that information reported to the databases is consistent across the college; systematically checks the accuracy of data stored on campus.
  • Develop and implement a system of assessment that evaluates the effectiveness of the College, its curricular goals and its learning and workplace environment.

Develop action plans for dealing with results.
