Membership Requirements

The Outreach Honor Band is open to advanced instrumental and percussion students in 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades from the extended Tucson metropolitan area.
Each fall, information packets are sent to all Tucson area public and private Junior High, Middle School and High School band directors and to select private music teachers in the area. Any student interested in joining the group must submit an application form, either on-line or by sending a printed application by regular mail. (See links below for Application and Audition Materials.) All students must play an audition. Selection for membership will be based upon playing ability and instrumentation needs.
Students are expected to be at all rehearsals. Exceptions are for illness, family obligation or school music activity. If a student is absent more that three rehearsals, he/she will forfeit his/her membership in the organization and forfeit the opportunity to perform in the concert at the end of the semester. Again in the spring, information packets are sent to area band directors and private music teachers. Members of the fall semester ensemble are automatically members of the spring ensemble if they confirm their participation via a provided form. Other students may be considered for membership in the Outreach Honor Band in the spring by submitting an application form and playing an audition (Apply Online, Audition Materials). Again, selection for membership will be based upon playing ability and instrumentation needs.
