Tryout Information
Attention Twirlers! Are you interested in twirling while continuing your education? Join the University of Arizona Twirling Team and be part of an award winning marching band. Our program is the finest and most respected in the country. The twirling team is always featured and the band showcases our team. The twirling team performs at all of the football games and is a major attraction at all of the basketball games (men’s and women’s) where you can show off your talent. We are often contenders for bowl games and travel with the team to various locations. For those twirlers who like the heat, and love to twirl outside year round...this is your opportunity!
In order to be admitted to the University, you must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher or be in the top 25% of your class. Your SAT scores must be above 1010 or ACT score of 24 and higher. Course credit is given to all twirlers for fall and spring semesters and twirling scholarships are available.
If you are interested in becoming a Wildcat twirler, please submit a sample of your twirling (in costume) via DVD, along with a photo and letter of interest. Once we receive your DVD and photo, we will send you the admissions packet, financial aid applications and additional information regarding the University, our program, as well as tryout information.
Tryouts for the 2012-2013 University of Arizona Twirling Team will be held March 24, 2012 in Gittings Gym at The University of Arizona. Our host hotel is the Four Points By Sheraton Tucson University Plaza (866-716-8133) which is walking distance from Gittings Gym. Tryouts will consist of 4 pep routines; a 2 and 3 baton series (DVD will be sent in advance) and a solo 2-minute routine. Please incorporate personal style as well as required technical skills (one-spin illusion, 3 spins vertical and horizontal, 2 & 3 baton combinations, and a roll section). All tryout DVD’s will be mailed by January 16th, 2012.
