Arizona Repertory Theatre

The Arizona Repertory Theatre (ART) is the centerpiece for the professional theatre training programs in the School of Theatre Arts at The University of Arizona. Arizona Rep is our principle theatre production program with a resident company comprised of students from the Bachelor of Fine Arts programs in Acting and Musical Theatre. The design and production departments are comprised of BFA and MFA Production and Design Students and our BFA History and Dramaturgy students serve as production dramaturges for faculty and guest artist directors.

The operation of Arizona Repertory Theatre is modeled after LORT professional regional theatres to ensure that theatre students being trained at the University of Arizona understand the expectations and rigors of working as a professional theatre artist. Each of our six annual productions features a full three to four week run of fifteen to seventeen performances. With tremendous support from the campus and the surrounding community, our student actors, designers and technicians regularly play to full or nearly full houses.

Through the ART actor training company, we are able to combine the best elements of an acting conservatory operating under a resident professional theatre model on a university campus. Our students are trained in a rigorous, cohesive, and disciplined setting, and showcased in highly visible public performances. As a result, our audiences enjoy productions of first-rate quality.

The Arizona Repertory Theatre regularly produces an eclectic repertoire of classical, contemporary, and musical theatre works designed to integrate classroom and studio training to prepare our young professionals to enter the real worlds of stage, film and television. The students you see on our stage today will be working all over the country tomorrow!
