Theatre Education and Outreach
The Theatre Arts Education and Outreach Division focuses on the concerns of theatre in a variety of educational settings and is designed to serve the students, faculty and programs in all divisions of the School of Theatre Arts. The division promotes theatre arts education and outreach endeavors in the Tucson and University of Arizona community and takes a leadership role in theatre education and outreach nationally and internationally.
The BFA in Theatre Arts Education, offered through the Division of Theatre Education and Outreach, prepares students for K-12 theatre teacher certification. Interested students who already have a degree in theatre can also complete teacher certification only courses through the division.
The division also offers courses in Theatre Arts Education and Outreach for theatre arts students who wish to study theatre education outside of schools. Examples are teaching artists who serve as artists in residence in schools and/or community centers, theatre educators for after school community arts programs and educational staff for professional theatres. Educational outreach students and faculty provide educational programs that accompany the production activities of the School.
