This corrido that I am singing

is not to make money out of it

it is only to tell you what are the human rights

and to tell my friends to be aware of them

I came from Agua Prieta

back in 1970 

I used to work in construction and sometimes washing cars

I always earned money with the sweat on my forehead

I didn't know about permits

to cross the border

The only thing I wanted was to be respected 

like a human being, and not like a wet-back

The permit is not the important matter

respect is what counts

That's why I say singing verses about human rights

I didn't come to this land in order to become a millionaire

I came to find the human rights that by law protect me

The ones made for the human being

in order to be practiced in this world

Este corrido que canto

no es para ganar dinero

sino tan solo decir lo que es el derecho humano

y decirle a mis amigos que pongan mucho cuidado

Yo me vine de Agua Prieta

en el año del setenta

Trabajaba en construcción y a veces lavando carros

ganaba siempre el dinero con el sudor en la frente

Yo no sabía de permiso

para cruzar la frontera

Lo unico que yo quería que me guardaran respeto,

como una persona humana y no como de bracero

El permiso es lo de menos

el respeto es el que vale

Por eso digo cantando versos del derecho humano

Yo no he venido a estas tierras para hacerme millonario

sino a buscar los derechos que por ley me corresponden

Las que son de un ser humano

que en este mundo pregonan
