Amelia Rieman is an inspiration to the students and faculty at The University of Arizona School of Music. Her deep love of music and her generous giving heart have led her to make the ultimate investment in the University. The Amelia T. Rieman Endowment ensures continued excellence in operatic studies at The University of Arizona. She also established an endowed fund for the annual Amelia Rieman Opera Competition, awarded to promising young artists pursuing training in opera.
Students are the driving force for her establishment of the permanent endowment. According to Rieman, "My gifts are my response to music, they are an expression of what is inside of me. Ultimately though, it is about the future and what the students will be able to do because of the plans I have made." Of Amelia Rieman's unparalleled generosity to the School of Music voice department, Professor Charles Roe states, "We are greatly appreciative of Amelia's continuing interest and support of the opera program and our students.
This year, with a generous donation to the School of Music, she established the Rieman Opera Quartet, which is being featured on this concert. In January the Quartet has been invited to give a concert in Mexico. Amelia, you are an angel!"
