The vocal jazz program has touched the lives of thousands of people in two different countries, seven different states, and a multitude of cities, and shown them the joy of music. Students in vocal jazz have had the opportunity to perform with Linda Ronstadt three times, and have received rave reviews in the Arizona Daily Star newspaper, and from Ms. Ronstadt herself.
The performance groups bring together students with diverse academic pursuits - from Biology to Computer Science to Music - in a setting where they can share their love for vocal jazz. The program fosters diversity and values each person for who they are. Vocal jazz group members serve as role models for local and statewide high school students - showing them that music can be an important part of the college experience, and that the program provides social, performance, and travel opportunities.
As students and as leaders, we strive to achieve excellence, while reaching out to the community and inviting them to share in our love for music. We are passionate about what we do, and to us the value of the vocal jazz and a cappella experience at the university is immeasurable.
