Neil Tatman, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Oboe, is one of the most recent additions to The University of Arizona School of Music and Dance faculty. Mr. Tatman comes to Arizona from California State University - Sacramento, where he has taught oboe, music theory and chamber music since 1994. He was Principal Oboist for the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1996. Mr. Tatman has been an active recitalist, clinician and recording artist since 1975. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Lawrence University and received his master’s and doctor’s degrees from Indiana University. Since 1996, Mr. Tatman has been actively engaged in free-lance performance with the San Francisco Opera, San Jose Symphony and the Sacramento Opera. An active performer at music festivals, he is a member of the Carmel Bach Festival, Music in the Mountains and the Desert Foothills Music Fest. Mr. Tatman and his wife, violinist Mutsuko Ikenouchi Tatman, are the proud parents of 7-year-old identical twin girls.
