The Keyboard Area of the School of Music is proud of its long tradition of excellence and its commitment to help students reach their professional goals and potential as musicians. Our graduates can be found sharing their talents in the world’s concert halls, in colleges and universities, in religious institutions, and in private teaching studios. Students drawn from throughout the world are mentored by members of an internationally recognized artist-faculty, who also boast accomplishments in composition, administration, law, and scholarly research and publication.

Studies center on studio instruction and weekly master classes, as well as specialized studies in vocal, instrumental, and dance accompaniment. Chamber music is coached both by the keyboard faculty and other artist-teachers from the School of Music. Piano and music majors have priority for individual lessons, but non-music majors can receive lessons on a space-available basis.

Many performance opportunities exist in the School of Music. Piano and organ students have the opportunity to perform in Keyboard Area recitals which are scheduled one Friday of each month at 12 noon in Holsclaw Hall. In addition, individual faculty members hold periodic studio recitals as well as weekly master classes. Monthly school wide recitals provide additional venues for performance based on faculty recommendation. Visiting artists also present master classes throughout the year, presenting valuable opportunities for performance and artistic coaching.
