MUS 441/541 Introduction to Electro-Acoustic Music (offered every Fall semester)
Introduction to the electronic music studio, basic acoustics, digital editing, and the compositional application of musique concrete, sound synthesis, sound processing, and MIDI.
MUS 442/542 Electro-Acoustic Music Composition (offered every Spring semester)
prerequisite: MUS 441/541 AND permission of instructor
Continued study of studio techniques covered in MUS 441/541 and the study of compositional, technical, and performance considerations in combining prerecorded materials or live electronics with traditional instruments or voices. Further study of the literature with emphasis on classic and recent works for instrument and electronics. A concert at the end of the semester is presented with student works.
