Dr. June Chow-Tyne earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Arizona in 1995, Master of Music degree in Piano Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester and Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with honor from the University of Toronto, Canada. Her teachers were Nicholas Zumbro, Barry Snyder and William Aide respectively.

Dr. June Chow-Tyne has performed extensively in Asia and North America as a soloist and chamber music player. She has performed with Orchestras such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic in Pennsylvania, the Civic Orchestra of Tucson and the Catalina Chamber Orchestra in Tucson, and she has worked with conductors such as Walter Handl, Kenneth Schemerhorn and Kenneth Jean. Dr. Chow-Tyne has given solo and chamber music concerts in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Toronto and Ottawa, Canada; Rochester and Buffalo, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Interlochen, Michigan; Los Angelas, California; Tucson, Green Valley and Bisbee, Arizona.

Dr. June Chow-Tyne has been named the Honored Teacher of the Year, 2003 of the Arizona State Music Teacher’s Association. She also is the winner of 1993 Pianist Competition sponsored by Green Valley Concert Association, the winner of the Collegiate Pianist of Arizona Competition in 1991, and the winner of the President’s Concerto Competition at the School of Music and Dance, University of Arizona in 1990.

Currently, Dr. Chow-Tyne serves as an adjunct piano faculty at the School of Music, University of Arizona and the Pima Community College. She also has established her professional piano studio in Tucson. As an active member of Tucson Music Teachers Association, she was the President of the Arizona State Music Teachers Association from 2003-2005, and had served on the Board of Tucson Music Teacher Association for seven years. Dr. Chow-Tyne has also served regularly as an adjudicator for auditions and evaluations around the state, including the President Concerto Competition of the School of Music and Dance, University of Arizona, the Arizona Study Program, and Green Valley Scholarship Competition. Dr. Chow-Tyne’s students have been recognized as winners in many auditions and competitions in state and out-of-state.
