Advanced Standing Requirements
Enrollment in upper-division (300-499) courses taught by the School of Media Arts is restricted by an Advanced Standing Policy. These Advanced Standing requirements are applicable to all students regardless of catalog.
Requirements:
- At least 40 earned credit hours
- Completion of the Media Arts core courses: M AR 100A, 100B, 200, 210, 270
- A cumulative grade-point average of not less than 2.5 at The University of Arizona
Transfer students who would otherwise qualify for Media Arts Advanced Standing except that they do not meet the requirements of having taken a minimum of 12 regularly graded units at the UA will be given provisional permission to enroll in upper-division Media Arts courses until they have completed this minimum. Thereafter, they must meet all of the regular provisions of the Media Arts Advanced Standing policy.
Students who have not been enrolled at the University for more than two consecutive semesters must meet all provisions of the Advanced Standing policy in effect at the time of their return.
Ineligible students, either erroneously or inadvertently enrolled in Media Arts classes numbered 300-499, will have their enrollments in those courses cancelled.
Any UA student may enroll in Media Arts courses in the Summer or Winter Sessions. Lower-division courses are available via WebReg. Upper-division courses are also available via WebReg, but students must first request provisional advanced standing for the summer by contacting Enedina Cervantes at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Provisional advanced standing for Summer/Winter may be given regardless of earned hours, Media Arts core courses completed, or cumulative GPA.
