Dr. Kimberly Owczarski received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2008. Her dissertation examined the relationship between the Batman film franchise, Time Warner, and the contemporary film industry. Her research is focused on the contemporary Hollywood media industries and the effect that political and economic forces have on media texts. Her work has been published in Spectator, CineAction, the Journal of Film and Video, as well as several anthologies. Currently, she is working on an essay on the relationship between Warner Communications, Inc. and Atari during the late 1970s and early 1980s, as well as a proposal to turn her dissertation into a book.
