Student Highlights: Achievements and Congratulations
Congratulations to Jesse Overlin, who won two awards for his submissions to the 2007 Prisma Awards. The Prisma Awards recognize excellence in design throughout Arizona and represent the premiere design competition within the industry.
Congratulations to BFA students Alex Gonzalez, Nicole Soloway, and Ryan McIntosh, who are recipients of the prestigious Western Photographic Historical Society College Scholarship for Arizona undergraduates. The scholarship is awarded based on the quality of a student’s portfolio and this year all three awards went to UA students.
Congratulations to MFA student Aaron Miller, who was awarded the 2007-08 Lasting Impressions Printmaking Scholarship and will be on exchange in Bratislava, Slovakia for the spring semester.
Congratulations to MFA student Sarah Hurwitz, who is the recipient of the Dorothy M. Freeman Fine Arts Scholarship. Hurwitz is in the second year of her program and focuses her paintings on pop culture by using herself as the ‘every-day girl’.
Congratulations to senior Christina Culligan, who was awarded the Dorothy M. Freeman Fine Arts Scholarship. Culligan is a double major in Art Education, with an emphasis in Sculpture, and Theatre Education.
Congratulations to Giada Gallo, an MFA student in Art Education. Giada is the recipient of the Albert M. Halderman Scholarship and the CRIZMAC Award, which is awarded for future teaching endeavors. Giada is a student teacher and is currently compiling data for her thesis, which is about how the photographic essay or series enhances critical thinking.
