Yumiko Omata is a BFA student with an emphasis in 2D, Drawing and Painting. She is expecting to graduate this December, after her solo exhibition, Surrender, at the Lionel Rombach Gallery. Yumiko states that this exhibition was an opportunity to demonstrate the artistic development she has experienced during her studies at the School of Art.

Recently selected for the Tucson Museum of Art’s annual invitational celebrating the Arizona Biennial, Yumiko’s painting, epoch i, was on display from May 19th through August 19th and was used for the cover of the museum’s seasonal newsletter and website. The Arizona Biennial is the longest running statewide juried competition.

Yumiko is the recipient of the 2006-07 AA Spain Scholarship for Painting and the 2007-08 School of Art Cultural Diversity Scholarship.
