New Works
Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison
feb 7 - march 31
[reception: thurs feb 22, 7pm, following the lecture by the ParkeHarrisons at 5:30pm at the CCP]
The ParkeHarrisons' most recent photographs, premiering at the Joseph Gross Gallery, further the thematic explorations of their previous works, depicting a landscape that is neither interior nor exterior, but is somehow both. The arrival of a female character marks a shift in the photographic narrative, as does the addition of shocking color, which at times insists upon a singular item and at times is more equitable in its attention. The effect is at once magnetic and revolting, for, though butterflies are vivified, their blood is too. On this fictitious yet veracious Earth, this work seems to indicate, beauty can look the same as pain.
