Internships, Scholarships and Employment Opportunities
The Division of Design and Technology is able to offer internships, scholarships, and employment opportunities experiences to selected students in the BFA and MFA degree programs.

Current internship programs exist at: All internships must be for academic credit.
The Arizona Theatre Company. The Tucson-based LORT theatre is the premier regional theatre in the state of Arizona. Internships available in many categories of production.
The Hartford Stage, Hartford Connecticut. The Hartford Stage is one of America’s best-known regional theatres. Internships are currently available in Stage Management for minimum one-semester duration.
Internships under development include:
The Arizona Opera. A Tucson, Arizona base opera production company. Arizona Opera – now in its 36th Season – is the only professional producer of grand opera in the state and one of only three companies in the US that performs in two cities. The company produces five operas each season.
Cirque du Soleil, Resident Shows Division, Las Vegas, Nevada. Cirque du Soleil is known world-wide for their remarkable and rich productions.
The Guthrie Theatre, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Guthrie Theatre is America’s first regional theatre. The Guthrie became a prototype for an important new kind of theater in contrast to the commercial environment of Broadway. It offers a range of internship possibilities in their new state-of-the-art facilities.
Scholarships
Several scholarships are made available to students directly from School of Theatre Arts. These are awards for meritorious students, those who excel artistically and academically. It is important to know that these scholarships are awarded by the Director of the School of Theatre Arts based on faculty recommendation. There are additional awards available from the University of Arizona. Please visit their scholarship information page.

Employment at the School of Theatre Arts
The School of Theatre Arts regularly employs students as part of the production staff. Academic year positions are available each year in properties, scenic painting, scenic construction, sound and stage management. Please contact each area’s supervisor and watch this website for new job postings.
Students are encouraged to fill out a FAFSA form to establish their qualification for Federal work-study support.
