Scholarships + Financial Aid

Art Scholarships

The School of Art awards over $50,000.00 in scholarships each year. In-state and out-of-state tuition waivers are also awarded as part of the scholarship process. Scholarships are awarded during the spring semester for the following academic year. All Art majors (Studio Art, Art History, Art Education), IDS and minors are encouraged to apply.

 

There are three types of scholarships available to our students:

  • School of Art, University of Arizona, and Corporate/Private Foundations

Current UA undergraduate students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative and major GPA. GPA will be verified prior to review.

 

Undergraduate Tuition Waivers

The Arizona Board of Regents makes in state and out of state tuition waivers available to UA students currently enrolled and taking 12 units of credit. Students are awarded in two categories - Need or Merit. To be eligible, you must fall within the eligibility period  (8 semesters at the UA) and have a GPA of 3.0. The School of Art selects students for these waivers based on faculty recommendations through our scholarship process.


Information and Restrictions:

  • Study Area: School of Art major (Art History, Studio Art, Art and Visual Culture Education)

  • Award Amount: A portion of your tuition only. Does not cover other University fees.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must continue to maintain it to receive the award.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must take 12 or more units.

Applicants for need-based waiver must fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) available through the Office of Student Financial Aid, or www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Once you've registered, you may return to the School of Art Online Scholarship Portal as many times as needed to complete your application.

Recommendations for awards are based on the following factors:

  • Quality of artwork or writing sample submitted

  • 3.0 cumulative and major GPA

School of Art recommendations are forwarded to the University Scholarship Office. You will be notified by email (UA account only) that the recommendation has been made. Scholarships will NOT be awarded until the scholarship office verifies eligibility.

You are also encouraged to research funding sources outside the University. Occasionally such scholarships are announced over the listserv.
