The BA in Art History requires 9 units of foundations, a minimum of 24 units of upper division (300-400 level) art history coursework, a minimum of 50 units outside of the Art Department, 4th semester proficiency in a second language, and 18 units of coursework in a minor area of study.

The Art History area offers a complete range of courses in Western art, from Ancient to Modern, as well as Pre-Columbian and African. On the undergraduate level, Art History provides a major for those students who plan on pursuing Art History studies at the graduate level, and the area lends essential support to the various studio programs and liberal arts degrees. The faculty members in Art History are committed to integrating historical, theoretical and critical aspects of art history and contemporary art production into lecture courses and seminars.
