Degree Details
Required distribution of 60 units necessary for the MFA: Grad Degrees:
- 30 units of coursework in area of emphasis (2D, 3D, Photography or Visual Communications)
- 18 units of elective courses = 6 courses
- 12 units of art history courses = 4 courses
Note: All graduate students are invited into the program provisionally. At the end of the second semester (or upon the completion of 30 units) they will be required to pass the candidacy review and if they pass, they then may choose their committee.

Application Requirements:
- Copy of Application for Graduate Admission (please specify area, ie Painting, Photography etc)
- Three Letters of Recommendation in sealed envelopes, can be submitted directly to dept. or included with application.
- Statement of Purpose
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- Portfolio: CD with 20 images in jpeg format (72 ppi- 800 pixels for longest dimension) or 20 slides loaded into a carousel with return postage and self addressed mailing label for carousel box. All submitted materials must have proper return labeling with pre-paid postage or they will not be returned.
- All official transcripts, (must have a 3.0 GPA for last 60 units)
- GRE needed only if attended school that did not award letter grades
