Art and Visual Culture Education

The division of Art and Visual Culture Education offers a comprehensive approach to learning about art, visual culture, and education. With courses that are designed to give you real-world experience, you will participate in community-based art education programs that will not only prepare you to be an effective teacher, but also a valuable community leader.

You will have the opportunity to participate in teaching projects at local schools, intern with area businesses, and work closely with the Center for Creative Photography. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the University of Arizona Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and the Arizona Art Education Association (AAEA).

As an Art Education major, one of two options is available for your studies: the Teaching Option or the Community and Museums Option. Our Teaching Option qualifies you to teach art to K-12 students in Arizona, as well as in most states in the US. Our Community and Museums Option prepares you for jobs in galleries, museums, and arts-based community settings.

You may also choose to double major and graduate with a B.F.A. in Art Education and in Studio Art.
